Good Boy Roy T-Shirt Review & Giveaway

I must tell you, this has been one of the most enlightening and heart warming reviews I have ever done. I really cannot pinpoint why..I know a lot of families struggle everyday, I know there are some families that are worse off than the Hix family, however, I was not introduced to those families, I was introduced to the Hix Family.

Oh, you haven't heard the story? Then check out these posts in regards to the Hix Family:

If you don't have time to read those (although you should to get to know the family better) I will highlight some of the key points here as well as reviewing the Good Boy Roy T-Shirt!

Kim Hix is officially the full time CEO of Good Boy Roy. Good Boy Roy was created based on the drawings by her son Zack. Zack suffers from from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Tourettes Disorder Spectrum, ADHD, and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Strep (PANDAS). What does this mean? It means his OCD drives him to compete against himself and others for perfection at all times, repeating the most minor tasks until he has it mastered. Sometimes causing great frustration, anger, rage, depression, and anxiety. Zack has no control over his emotions and has always overreacted to the most minor of situations, raging often, crying frequently, and riding a daily roller coaster ride of emotions.

Let me just step aside and talk about Kim and her book first though. Kim wrote the book "No One is Perfect and YOU are a Great Kid".

About the book: "No One is Perfect and YOU are a Great kid is a lovely book written about Zack, a young boy who struggles daily with ever changing moods. He tries to understand why he gets very sad, upset, discouraged, and angry in response o what most would consider insignificant events. Zack often feels different, left out, and isolated due to his moods. He poses thought provoking questions to his audience that can spur some meaningful conversation. The book will touch your heart and anyone who has a special child in their life who struggles with any degree of emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric disorder."

Kim also sent me the book to review. I read it and thought it was a really good book and was illustrated well. When I was through reading it, my daughter yanked (yes yanked) it out of my hands, took it in her room and started reading it out loud. I was now hearing the message being sent by the book out of a child's mouth. And honestly, the message...that even if sometimes you do things wrong, or not perfect, or get mad, or upset, that YOU ARE A GREAT KID came across loud and clear out of an 8 year olds mouth.

Below is an excerpt from her book that Betsy chose to read out loud.

*I know she is reading a bit fast...but I could only tell her to slow down so many times before I gave up...lol.***

Wanna hear more? Well, Betsy won't read the book
out loud to you, but you can purchase the book online at Amazon (where it sells for approx 13.50 plus S& H), or you can contact Kim yourself off her site and she can sell it to you for 12.50 and that includes the S&H.

However, if you are a therapist, counselor, or teacher and want to buy a bulk quantity then you SHOULD order from the publisher, Createspace, as they give a discount for bulk orders.

Now, back to Good Boy Roy.

Kim realized that drawing was a good outlet for Zack, so
mething that could soothe him, as well as something he not only really enjoyed doing, but was really good at it! How did his drawings end up on T-Shirts? Well, why don't we let Zack tell you:

From Zack: "The first character that came to life on a shirt was Roy, mom thought we should call him Good Boy Roy. Like me he really is a good boy but sometimes does things he should not do. And that is what I have always said after something happens that I did not mean to happen, I always say "I really am a good boy," so Roy is kind of my alter ego."

The next thing you know, Good Boy Roy is now a great line of T-Shirts. Kim is a champion for Zack and children like him. She encourages him in his drawings and hopes that one day this could be his business to support himself when he gets older. Isn't that what we are supposed to do as parents? Give our children lessons on how to fly and then let them soar? In my opinion, Kim and Doug (her husband) are giving Zack EXCELLENT flying lessons!!!

I think the designs are really cool. I don't want to say cute, well because cute isn't the right word. From the designs I have seen, these shirts really do represent everyday kids and some of the things they would normally do.

Like check out Hippy Heather...I know a Hippy Heather (Jenny lol)..who doesn't know a Hippy Heather?

Or What about Good Boy Roy Himself??? LOL..Check him out..this picture depicts an action that goes on daily in my house!!!

Or Crazy Timmy...Now, we all probably have a Crazy Uncle Timmy, or Crazy Friend Timmy...I know one...but I am not telling who!!

Or what about Handsome Hen? Now...I KNOW everyone knows a Handsome Hen...LOL LOL LOL...I cannot stop laughing at this one.

Those are just a few of the designs available right now. Check out all the available designs on Good Boy Roy. But what is even better is Good Boy Roy also accepts ideas for designs and if Zack chooses one to draw and put onto a t-shirt they will send you one FREE!! They also do custom designs for athletic teams, reunions, different functions...you name it...Zack can create. Good Boy Roy designs are for Little Kids and Big Kids alike!!!

But my favorite so far, is of course, the one I chose to review and that is Peace, Love, and Volleyball. If you do not know a volleyball nut, then you are in the minority!!!

I LOVED this shirt. The screen printing was done really well, and the colors of the drawing itself are nice and bright. The white actually looks white not "off white" and the hot pink is smoking hot I tell you! I also think the actual color of the t-shirt (lime green) went really well with the colors within the drawing. Don't you think so?

My daughter wore this the day we received it and I was sooo afraid she was going to get it dirty or stain it before I had a chance to take pictures. She actually did eat Cheetos (UGH) on the day she wore it, and to be honest I was really afraid that orange yucky stuff that stays on your fingers after eating Cheetos was actually going to stain the shirt...but no it did not!

The shirt washed really well and did not shrink.

The shirts retail for 15.00 at Good Boy Roy, but lucky for my readers, if you choose to purchase one you can save 10% if you enter the "Blogblastoff" during checkout.

Ha ha!!! You made it all the way down here? Well, then you sure do deserve a giveaway that's for sure!!

Nachomamatees Review & Giveaway

I will admit it...I have no problem with admitting it...I have a sick sense of humor sometimes...maybe that is why I like Nachomamatees so much! From Vintage T-Shirts, to 80's T-shirts, to Funny T-Shirts - Nachomamatees has them all. Seriously, I could laugh all day looking at some of these T-shirts.

What about this one??? Anyone remember Jason??? LOL!

Or this one? Hey! Now..I am definitely a One Man (well ..ok...Woman) WolfPack!

I was sent one of Nachomamatees t-shirts to review, and yes, I was nice enough this time to let my son pick it out. I bought him an adult Large and as you can see he has plenty of room in it.

Now, the t-shirt is funny enough ("That's How I Roll" with a hamster in a rolling toy), but combine it with a tough looking kid holding a football...and it is just plain hilarious!

The shirt itself washed well, it did not shrink and it did not lose its form - you know how sometimes t-shirts get all weird after washing them?? That did not happen in this case!

Nachomamatees has a great selection of t-shirts and I would probably buy 90% of them if I could! Plus, the have a Daily Deal 6.99 Special - where they select one of their t-shirts to sell for 6.99 on that day! How cool is that? Seriously! Christmas is only 6 months away - You could buy all of your family and friends Daily Deal 6.99 T-Shirts and save a TON of money!!!

Buy it - Like the shirts you saw here and you are ready to purchase one? Then be prepared to laugh a lot looking at all of them! Check out Nachomamatees here.

Win it- One of my lucky readers will win their very own Nachomamatees T-shirt. You will be able to select any shirt you want up to 15.00!

Zebra Pens Review & Giveaway

OK..OK..OK I will admit it...I am a pen addict. No, not your everyday, run of the mill pen addict, I am seriously addicted to pens. But not just any pen will do..NO! The pens I chose to purchase must have more colors to choose from than black and blue, they must look cute, and they must write well. What is the point of having a cute pen if it doesn't work properly!

Oh, and my pen addiction does not stop at me...my daughter is also a pen addict, but she is more like a pen thief, every time I get a new pen it somehow ends up in her hands so I ALWAYS have to have multiple pens available to me or I will end up with none.

So when I had the opportunity to review Zebra pens I was stoked!! Always looking for a good pen I am! I was sent the Z-Grip Daisies, Regal Rollerballs in Arrow & Needle tip, and Cadoozles Mechanical Pencils.

Check out how each of them writes:

Z-Grip Daisies - Loved these pens...love the colors, great ballpoint pen. Plus they are cute on top of everything else!!!

Specifications
:

Average Retail Price $3.75/5 pack

Floral Fashion Designs in Vibrant Colors

Form Fitting Rubber Grip

Convenient, Retractable Plunger

Grip Color Matches 5 Ink Colors - Fuchsia, Violet, Teal, Light Green, Orange

Regal Rollerballs in Arrow and Needle Tip - I liked these pens a lot. Although I actually preferred the Arrow Tip as I think the Needle Tip is just a little too thin for me. I have been using my Regal Rollerball Arrow Tip in Red constantly and it has yet to run out of ink. I am a doodler when I am on the phone and the Regal Rollerball is holding up to my Doodling Standards!!!

Specifications:

Average Retail Price $8.36/4 pack

Easy Glide Ink for a Super Smooth Write

Effortless, Silky Ink Flow for a Scratch-Free Performance

Contemporary, Streamline Barrel with Ink Visibility

Beveled Silver Clip

Available in Arrow and Needle Top

8 Rich Colors - Black, Blue, Red, Green, Pink, Light Blue, Orange, Brown

Cadoozles Mechanical Pencils - I love using pencils...I don't know...maybe it brings me back to my school days when I had no responsibilities except to go to school and play...But regardless, I love using pencils. Mechanical Pencils have always been a bear for me because I do write HARD and FAST...and will generally break the lead off the pencil. Cadoozles were no different, I was breaking the lead left and right, however, that has nothing to do with the quality of the pencil, it has to do with the way I write. If I could just calm down a little while I write then I wouldn't have to worry about the lead breaking! However, I did find than when I was not my crazy self writing, the Cadoozles pencils wrote beautifully...nice and dark lead which I like. Plus they are super cute! They look like a real pencil too, except with cuter designs. Can you guess where most of these have ended up? Yes, in my daughters pencil box. Apparently they are hers now.

Specifications:

Solid, Wood Case Design Barrel

Large, Colorful Eraser to Advance Lead or Refill

Ideal for Standardized Tests

Refillable with Standard 0.7mm Lead

6 Different Vibrant, Fun Graphic Themes Available in: Blue, Light Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, White

"Mental Illness is Not Contagious" The Hix Family Part 1

No One is Perfect and YOU are a Great Kid

Stomp Out Stigma

This week I had the honor to get to know Kim Hix. Who is Kim Hix you ask? She is a mom who loves her children, she is a mom who fights for her children, she is a mom who some may consider a hero, I am one of those people.

I will be writing a series of articles on the Hix Family about their life with Mental Illness. The first one, this one, is about Kim, the second one will be the interview questions I asked Kim and her family, the third one will be about Zack and his Good Boy Roy Brand of T-shirts, with the final one being a review and giveaway for a Good Boy Roy T-Shirt!

Kim has two children, Kelsie who is almost 12 (WOO HOO!) and Zack who is 15. Zack suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Tourettes Disorder Spectrum, ADHD, and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Strep (PANDAS).

To read what she has to say brings tears to my eyes. I don't know why. It is not like she is saying how horrible her life is...actually, quite the opposite. I guess because I truly do appreciate Moms whose children are not "perfect," kids who have special qualities about them. Seriously, God must have looked down on these women, Kim included, and said "Yes, she can do it. She can handle it. Let her be the lucky one to be his Mom."

Kim also has a very supportive husband, Doug.
According to Kim "He has been the best husband and fully supportive of me, and the best thing is he keeps me laughing which is something we all need, especially around here. He will even make Zack laugh when he is in a REAL "Other Zack" mood."

Kim is a champion for her son and children who struggle like he does. She is on a mission to bring understanding and awareness to mental illness. She wants to reach out to children and help them understand they do not suffer alone and there is hope.

Kim says: "Mental illness is not a choice, it is not contagious, it does not make you "less than." I hope our story will open the lines of communication for parents and children, friends and neighbors to discuss and explore behavior they may not understand. My biggest hope is that children who are seeking acceptance, understanding and answers be able to find that from parents, friends and peers. "

Kim recognized that drawing was a soothing activity for Zack so she encouraged him and his drawings. What came out of his drawings was a new T-Shirt line called Good Boy Roy. All of the drawings on these shirts, Zack created.

Let me tell you a little bit more about Kim. She has written a childrens book called "No one is Perfect and YOU are a Great Kid".

"No One is Perfect and You are a Great Kid" received the Reader Views Award for 2007 Annual Literary Rewards.

She is also Ezine Article Expert!

You can order the book online at Amazon (where it sells for approx 13.50 plus S& H), or you can contact Kim yourself off her site and she can sell it to you for 12.50 and that includes the S&H.

However, if you are a therapist, counselor, or teacher and want to buy a bulk quantity then you SHOULD order from the publisher, Createspace, as they give a discount for bulk orders.

I was given the opportunity to review and giveaway a shirt (coming later in the week) from Mom Made That. However, after reading about Kim, Zack, and the entire Hix Family I knew it had to more than just a Review & Giveaway.

Kim has been a very sweet person to work with, and I am truly honored to have gotten to know her a little better this last week. If you don't know any children suffering from these diseases then you are one of the lucky, but few people. If you do, then I would like to shake your hand, give you a hug, and tell you how inspired and in awe of you that I am.

Either way, check out Kim's site to learn more about her book "No One is Perfect and YOU are a Great Kid" and learn more about her and her cause.

Check her out on Facebook too!!!

Thank you Kim, Zack, the entire Hix Family for giving me this opportunity.

Be on the lookout for the next post about the Hix Family - The Hix Family Interview!

Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Blog Tour & Giveaway

I was lucky enough to participate in Breyer's Smooth & Dreamy Blog Tour...I mean really lucky. Wouldn't you feel lucky if you got to taste Vanilla Fudge Brownie Ice Cream Sandwiches? Well I sure as heck do!!!

(Drum roll please.....) Breyers introduces Smooth & Dreamy Ice Cream Bars and Sandwiches that "have less fat and calories than regular ice cream bars and sandwiches." Hello! You are speaking my language now!!! Seriously, the most calories any of the bars offers is 160 calories and the highest fat grams are 6. Not too bad for an ice cream treat.

I took my kids to the grocery store to get pick out which flavor we wanted to try...Decisions, decisions...Would it be the Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Triple Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Bar, the Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Strawberry Covered Ice Cream Bar, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwich, Chocolate Caramel Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich, Vanilla Fudge Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich, or the Vanilla Caramel Chip Bar? OH MY GOSH...I will take them all!!!

But I didn't...I finally said "I can't make a decision, you two pick one." They settled on the Breyers Smooth and Dreamy Vanilla Fudge Brownie Sandwich and believe me, it was HARD to wait until after dinner to try these out!!!

Oh...but it was worth the wait. "Natural vanilla light ice cream with chewy fudge brownie pieces nestled between two brownie cookies..." Can you say YUMMY! I know my kids and I did. We loved these!!! To be honest, I could not tell the ice cream was "light" I didn't even know it was until I read the description on the website. And there really were fudge brownie pieces mixed in the ice...MY FAVORITE. They were a decent size too. Not too small and not too big. Perfect size for an after dinner treat.

Take a spin on Breyers Wheel of Delights for your chance to win instant prizes, plus be entered into their sweepstakes. Oh..you like word games you say? Well, check out Wordalicious then!

Breyers has come out with a new, yummy line of ice cream treats called Smooth & Dreamy. I tried their new Smooth & Dreamy Triple Chocolate Chip ice cream bars and enjoyed it. They come 6 in a package and can be found in most grocery freezer aisles.

The Smooth & Dreamy Triple Chocolate Chip ice cream bars are 130 calories each, and contain 4g of saturated fat. No artificial flavors or colors are used in making the Smooth & Dreamy Triple Chocolate Chip ice cream bars. Penguins of Madagascar Prize Pack Giveaway - CLOSED

Ok...I will admit it...I love watching Penguins of Madagascar on Nickelodeon with my kids..My favorite character? King Julien, the striped tail Lemur...I find myself laughing out loud at some of the things he says!

Well lucky for me General Mills and Nickledeon provided me with a Penguins of Madagascar Prize Pack through MyBlogSpark! What did I get? One box of Trix cereal (that, by the way was devoured very quickly), a Penguins of Madagascar launcher, and the new Penguins of Madagascar movie, "The Penguins of Madagascar Operation: DVD Premier"!

What could be better than sitting down with a box of Trix Cereal and watching your favorite episode of The Penguins of Madagascar? On this DVD, my favorite episode was "Dr. Blowhole's Revenge". As the penguins are always on a mission, their mission was to save the kidnapped King Julien from Dr. Blowholes grips before Dr. Blowhole can cover the entire world in water. King Julien of course, does not have a clue what is going on, frees himself and goes into cahoots with Dr. Blowhole. When King Julien finds out the Penguins are out to save him, of course he says he is a "double agent" and goes back on the Penguins side. I swear this episode made me laugh so hard, Dr. Blowhole's laugh reminded me of a high pitched, evil villians laugh, with a vibration added..LOL.

But what was just as fun for my kids were the Penguins of Madagascar Launchers. The two launchers I received were "Skipper" and "Private" and let me tell you, those poor penguins were being launched throughout my house...on walls, into bowls, at each other!

Inside specially marked General Mills cereals you will find a launcher for Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, Private, or King Julie and mission details outlined on the back of the box including:
  • Dive In, Soldier - Set an empty plastic cereal bowl on the table and try to pop your launcher into it. Wear a helmet or you“ll be squid bait.

  • Longest Propulsion Launcher - Challenge your troops to see who can launch their character the furthest. Go long or go back to the zoo.

  • Target Practice - Create a landing zone with a spoon and try to strategically drop your character into the sweet spot. Hit the target or go back to the drawing board.

  • Clear the Wall - Do you have enough projectile pop to push your launcher over the top of the box? Proceed launchin“ troops, earn those wings!
Giveaway

One lucky reader will win the same Penguins of Madagascar Prize Pack that I received.

Executive Gift Shoppe Review and Giveaway - CLOSED

I recently had the pleasure to work with ExecutiveGiftShoppe.com. I was given two items to review as well as the opportunity to offer my readers a giveaway!!!

Executive Gift Shoppe is an online shop that offers unique, engraved & personalized gifts at affordable prices. It is not just limited to wedding and professional gifts (although they do have LOTS of those!). You can find a gift for just about anyone here. You know your Dad? The one that is hard to shop for? I bet you could even find him a gift here! Poker Chip Sets? They have them! Personalized Clocks? They have them! Manicure Travel Packs? They have them! Personalized Brief Cases? That's Right!!! THEY HAVE THEM!

Check out their wide variety of Business Card Holders.

Or the GREAT selection of Swiss Army Knives. Now who cannot use a Swiss Army Knife?

Deluxe Note Jotter & Organizer

As a mom, an employee, and a blog writer (not to mention all the other hats I wear), keeping my schedule together is a nightmare! There is always a "to do" list that needs to get done, there are always people who need calling, or writing, dogs that need shots and kids that need haircuts (the list could go on and on and on but then you would get bored!) so I am always looking for something that will help me keep my schedule "together".

Lucky for me one of the products ExecutiveGiftShoppe sent me to review was the Deluxe Note Jotter & Organizer in Top Grain Napa Leather. The best thing I liked about this was that it was a perfect fit for my purse. I am not one of those women who carry around a large handbag with half their lives in their bags....I carry a small purse, one that only carries the essentials...wallet, keys, lipstick, etc. And because of the size of this (4 5/8 x 3 x 3/4) it easily fit in my purse.

Other positive aspects of this is that it really does have a "To Do" list pad that is included as well as a small gold pen. Both came in very handy over the weekend when I was planning out my blog posts for the week while standing in line at the grocery store!

There are also 4 pockets on the inside to carry business cards or credit cards, as well as a pocket on the outside. But not only is the Deluxe Note Jotter & Organizer handy, it is also quite chic. The leather is very soft and not stiff at all. I, personally, would rather pull this out of my purse to use than a .59 tablet you can get at any store.

And yes, this can be personalized so that when you are in line at the store, when you know the lady behind you is admiring it and wants it for herself and says to you "Oh I see you found my Organizer," you can flip it shut, show her your personalized initials and say "No ma'am, this one is all mine!"

Swiss Army Knife

A boy/man without a Swiss Army Knife is like a beach without waves, a pie without filling, a car without gas; one just does not work properly without the other!

I was given the Signature Lite Swiss Army Knife to review, but to be honest, I don't think I could have done the review justice without the help of my son. Check out the video review of the Signature Lite Swiss Army Knife:

video

As you can see, my son was able to get A LOT of use out of this knife. It never left his side all weekend! But in case you couldn't hear all the specifications, the Signature Lite Swiss Army Knife Features include:
  • Small blade
  • Scissors
  • Retractable ball point pen
  • Nail file with screwdriver tip
  • LED mini light
  • Key ring
  • Size: 58 mm | 2 1/4 inch
  • Life time warranty

Lawry's Get Grilling Review and Giveaway!!! CLOSED

Can you say SUMMER? Can you say GRILL?? Aren't those two words synonymous with each other??? I know they are in my house that is for sure! I am very fortunate in that I had the opportunity to review the Lawry's Get Grilling Gift Pack. Lawry's provided me with the free product, information and gift pack through MyBlogSpark.

So what did I get? Both of the new Lawry's marinades - Tuscan Sun-Dried Tomato and Szechuan Sweet and Sour BBQ - a set of skewers and a marinating dish...and let me tell you! HOLY MOLY did my family go to town on that!!!

First, how in the world were we going to decide what to have for dinner THAT NIGHT! We all voted and we chose to make steak kabobs with the Szechuan Sweet and Sour BBQ and added red and green peppers and red potatoes. After we cut up all our vegetables and steak and put them on the skewers we placed the kabobs in the marinating dish and marinated them with Lawry's Szechuan Sweet and Sour BBQ.

Thirty minutes later they were nice and marinated and out on the grill...thirty minutes after that they were ready to be served. And let me tell you...These were a HUGE HIT at my house. Lawry's Szechuan Sweet and Sour BBQ went well with the steak and vegetables and it was SOOO easy to make. But the best thing about it? My kids liked it! When my kids like it you know it is a hit!

Disclosure: This review is based on my opinion and MY OPINION ONLY! I was given these products for the purpose of this review. I was not paid for this review.

Giveaway

One lucky reader will win the same Get Grilling Gift Pack that I received.

Lysol Review & Giveaway - CLOSED

Lysol is absolutely one of my favorite brands - By Far. If I don't have some sort of Lysol product in my house at any given time, it is because my husband has done the shopping! I know when I think of the Lysol name, the first thing I think of is the Lysol Disinfecting Spray - I am honestly going to say that when someone in my house has a cold (or flu or just the sniffles) I have my handy dandy Lysol bottle ready to spray on EVERYTHING! And if for some odd reason I don't have a can of Lysol Disinfecting Spray in my house I absolutely will make a special effort to go to the store and get it - regardless of if I have a coupon! But not having a coupon is not usually a problem - Lysol is very good about offering coupons for their products, whether online or in the newspapers.

I was recently sent a can of Lysol Disinfecting Spray and a canister of Lysol Disinfecting Wipes to review. Now, obviously, you all must know (if you read the paragragh above) I am a huge fan of Lysol Disinfecting Spray. I would absolutely recommend it - Absolutely. I use it on EVERYTHING. And I would actually bet money on the fact that when I use it religiously, I will honestly say I believe the Lysol Disinfecting Spray has kept me from catching some of the colds that my children bring home from school!

Now, the Lysol Disinfecting Wipes are relatively new to me - Yes, I have used them before, but not like the Lysol Disinfecting Spray. So, I decided to attack my bathrooms with the wipes - and boy, they made a difference. You can use the Lysol Disinfecting Wipes on non-porous, non food surfaces to kill germs - perfect for bathrooms and certain places in the kitchen! I loved using them in the bathroom, because if you have kids (especially boys) you know how much of a mess they can make, that there are possibly many disgusting germs in bathrooms, and honestly, I felt very good wiping my bathroom surfaces down with the Lysol Wipes! LOVE them! They will definitely become a staple in my house.

According to Lysol:

"The Lysol brand has teamed up with Dr. Laura Jana, a pediatrician, mother of three school aged-children and owner of an educational daycare center. She would like to share her back to school checklist with moms to help them prepare their children for a healthy and happy school year. Her tips include:

  • The Health administration is predicting a very serious cold and flu season, so teach your children about healthy hygiene habits before they go back to school and get exposed to classroom germs, like MRSA or H1N1 virus. Check out the new educational Web Site for kids, developed in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), at www.oopkids.com. This kid-friendly Web site is designed to educate children about healthy hygiene habits and safety routines.

– This Web site is an expansion from an existing health campaign with the CDC – Ounce of Prevention http://www.cdc.gov/ounceofprevention/.

  • Send school germs packing by encouraging your children to drop their book bags, take off their shoes and leave their coats at the door when they walk in. Send them straight to the sink to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds (long enough to sing Happy Birthday twice!) while you spray their bags with Lysol Disinfectant Spray to help kill bacteria they may have picked up from the school bus, the playground or the classroom.

Lysol Disinfectant Spray effectively kills 99.9% of bacteria on soft surfaces, including the family couch! (Press release available upon request)

For more information, check out the Lysol Back to School Information Center at http://lysol.com/send-school-germs-packing/"

Wow! What excellent ideas! I never even thought of "lysoling" my childrens book bags and things as they walked through the door! That is where we need to get the germs - at the door!

Now Lysol is sponsoring a giveaway on A Shoppers Quest!

Not one but TWO Lucky Readers will win their can of Lysol Disinfecting Spray and TWO Canisters of Lysol Disinfecting Wipes - One to keep at home and one to send to your child's school!

Reduce Water Week Review and Giveaway - CLOSED

I was recently given the opportunity to review Base Brands Reduce WaterWeek.

What is Reduce WaterWeek?

Reduce WaterWeek is a set of 5 16oz reusable eco-friendly bottles intended to be filled and then stored in your refrigerator and each day, you grab a new bottle from your fridge instead of having to buy bottled water from the store thus saving money as well as doing your part in saving the environment.

I really liked the "popping" colors of the bottles when I first received them. I really like cute, flirty, colorful things and what better way to make a fashion statement than with your water bottle? I loved mine! Reduce WaterWeek also comes with a specially designed tray that fits perfectly in my fridge. Why is this a big deal? Because honestly, how often can you keep a bottle of water "standing" in your fridge when you have kids grabbing things right and left out of it? I loved the tray because it kept the bottles secure in their place and little hands could not just knock them over.
Who is Base Brands?

In an effort to create a better mouse trap, Base Brands was formed in 2005 with the intention of making life more simple. Base Brands "invents creative, practical consumer products that provide solutions for everyday activities." Base products can be purchased online and in major retail outlets.

Reduce WaterWeek retails for 19.95 and comes as a set of 5 reusable 16 oz bottles along with a storage tray. Base Brands also sells a wide variety of items such as WaterWeek Kids, Aluminum Water Bottles, and more!

And the best news? Base Brands is sponsoring a giveaway on A Shopper's Quest!

Giveaway

One Lucky Reader will win their very own Reduce WaterWeek set!

Piggy Paint Review & Giveaway - CLOSED

Do you have a daughter, niece, granddaughter? Well, let me tell you, I have just found the perfect place for you to get them nail polish and nail polish remover - www.piggypaint.com! Why is Piggy Paint the best choice? Because it is safe for your children and isn't that what we all want?

Plus Piggy Paint is:

  • Non Toxic
  • Low Odor
  • Water Based

I was sent the Piggy Paint Nail Polish in "Candy Coated Swirling Lavender" as well as the "low odor" Nail Polish Remover. Now, when I received this, my daughter's idol, my niece Harlie, was in town so they had their own "nail painting" party. Although, it was really just Harlie doing the painting...But before their "party" started I did my own test.

First thing I did was open the bottle of Nail Polish Remover - and I did not smell a darn thing...that is amazing..usually it feels like you have to wear a mask when removing nail polish! Then I tried to take off my own drugstore nail polish. Although the Piggy Paint Nail Polish Remover did remove my "drugstore" nail polish, it took a lot of hard work...probably because my nail polish had a million chemicals in it, whereas the Piggy Paint Nail Polish is more natural.

However, when Harlie and Betsy were having their own "party" the Piggy Paint Nail Polish Remover easily removed the Piggy Paint Nail Polish - so they are the perfect match.

About Piggy Paint:

Piggy Paint was created from the love of a Mother's Heart. Melanie Hurley, the owner of Piggy Paint decided it was time to create a safe alternative for nail polish for our children when she noticed that regular nail polish, as well as other "kid" nail polishes, ate holes (yes you heard me right) in a styrofoam plate.

Piggy Paint is offering A Shopper's Quest readers a coupon code to be used on www.piggypaint.com and can be used for 15% everything on their site including sale items! Just use QUEEN15L during checkout through October 31st!!!

Plus, spend over 25.00 and domestic shipping is FREE!

Piggy Paint has generously offered to host a giveaway for A Shopper's Quest readers!

Waterlicious Review & Giveaway - CLOSED

Let me tell you...My kids had a treat the other day...We were sent samples of Waterlicious and my kids could not wait to try them. I, on the other hand made them wait...I needed to read the ingredients before I could let them drink Waterlicious.

The first thing I noticed was that Waterlicious contains fiber - Wow! Fiber in a water drink? Awesome! Then I noticed it also contained Vitamins B3, B5, B6 and B12 - awesome vitamins for healthy growth and body development. You had me at B3!

Waterlicious also contains:

Calcium
Vitamin C
Natural Sweeteners
Purified Water

But does not contain:

Preservatives
Color Additives

What could be better? Switch out that fruit juice or sugary soda for a water that is actually is vitamin enhanced and the only one that is fiber enhanced?

From Waterlicious:

The first vitamin and fiber-enhanced, healthy, flavored water designed specifically for the taste profile of children.

Waterlicious® is specially formulated for children, fills the void for healthy alternatives to high-calorie, high-sugar sodas and concentrated juices.

Now, how did it taste??? Well, my kids could not get enough of it! The really wanted to drink it at night, but I am always wary of letting my kids take anything with vitamins at night (I don't want them staying up half the night!) so I let them drink a bottle before school and they loved it!

Waterlicious comes in a variety of flavors including Peach, Lemon, Soccer Berry (a favorite), Watermelon and many more!

You can buy Waterlicious here. It retails for 23.10 for a 24 bottle case.

Waterlicious is sponsoring a giveaway with A Shopper's Quest!
